This implementation description details how Zoosk is using Solr/Lucene as a NoSql solution to meet the near real-time Big Data needs of a social news feed in its evolution into a Romantic Social Network. The latest Los Angeles/ OC Apache Lucene/Solr User group meeting was held at Shopzilla in LA. In this talk, Grant spoke about some of the tools available (recommendations, faceting options, amongst others) in Solr and Mahout to aid in the discovery process and how these two open source projects can work together.
